Who We Are
We are PlebeianHelpers, American grassroots volunteers who provide direct humanitarian aid to people in need .
PlebeianHelpers was born out of our deep sympathy for the Ukrainian people devastated by Russia’s unprovoked war of aggression and the horrific war crimes being committed against them. We were inspired by the character and courage of the Ukrainian people and felt compelled to take action to help them in any way that we can.
We hope that our work in Ukraine serves as a foundation for expanding our mission to provide direct aid to others around the world in a variety of forms, including food, supplies and services to people who need help as a result of war, other conflicts, human displacements, natural disasters, social injustice and poverty.
What We Do
We purchase and deliver goods and provide services directly to those who need them.
PlebeianHelpers sees the value in working face-to-face and providing direct aid. Volunteers for Plebeian Helpers pay their own expenses for travel, lodging and food to enable them to maximize the benefits for those in need provided by the funds donated.
Since 2022, we have made three trips to Poland and Ukraine to purchase and deliver preserved food, clothing, educational, medical and other supplies for Ukrainians and Ukrainian refugees. Please visit our Ukraine Program to learn more about those efforts.
How We Do It
We donate our own money and seek grants and donations from family, friends and other supporters to maximize our impact when we travel to where aid is desperately needed.
PlebeianHelpers continuously engages in fundraising efforts to generate the means to provide our material support. We have raised over $380,000 from more than 700 donations and are continuing to raise new funds for our future efforts.
PlebeianHelpers has formed strong connections with other humanitarian aid organizations such as UAid Direct, Youth With A Mission (YWAM), Kidsave, the Debniki Foundation and others to provide direct aid to refugees and others suffering as a result of violent conflict, displacement and hunger.
